Reference #16: What Got You Here Won't Get You There

Successful people believe in themselves, not in luck.

They believe they can succeed; they possess the skills, intelligence, and capability to achieve their goods. This sometimes results in them overlooking the effects of luck in their success. It also can lead to success in spite of certain traits, which they may instead believe they are succeeding because of.

They believe they will succeed; they possess motivation and unflappable optimism.

And they believe they choose to succeed; they have free will and agency.

They also believe that they have succeeded in the past; those past successes build confidence for the future.
