Every organisational structure has trade offs. Your challenge is to find the right balance for your situation.

Some common problems to consider are as follows:

• The organisation has silos of excellence. Consider how these groups might integrate.
• Employees decision-making scope is too narrow or too broad.
• Individuals are incentivised to do the wrong things.
• Reporting relationships lead to compartmentalisation, or diffusion of accountability.
