Reference #454: Organizational Culture and Leadership
Dialogue is fundamentally different from discussion. In discussion, your goal is often to solve problems quickly and try to win arguments. Dialogue slows down the conversation to allow you to examine your assumptions and reflect on what you say and hear.
This is accomplished, in part, through the concept of "suspension". Suspension is the holding of assumptions suspended in front of you. It leads you to reflect on why you disagree with a point rather than voicing your disagreement.
