Reference #487: Organizational Culture and Leadership
When a mid-stage company whose founder has moved on is faced with a crisis (as slipping performance or an acquisition), a new executive leader is often brought in. This leader can fail in three ways:
- Improvement does not occur as a result of their changes
- The new leader is not given credit for the improvement that does occur
- The new leader's assumptions threaten too much of the cultural core that is still embodied in the founder's traditions.
