Undertaking a cultural analysis has risks. Internally, members of the organisation may not be able to handle the insights into their own culture. There is also the external risk that parties outside the organisation — such as supplies or potential employees — may interact with the organisation differently once information about its culture is made available.
When there is a valid purpose for undertaking a cultural analysis, and the consequences are clearly understand, such an analysis can nonetheless bring great insight and constructive action.
