Reference #26: What Got You Here Won't Get You There
Implementing a new idea within an organisation requires buy-in. Of the seven phases of a successful project, three of them involve gaining support.
The first three steps are as follows:
- Assess the situation
- Identify the problem
- Devise a solution
The following three steps centre around buy-in:
- Gain buy-in from your superiors (to approve the idea)
- Gain buy-in from you peers (to agree to the idea)
- Gain buy-in from your direct reports (to accept the idea)
The final step is implementation. This is only successful if buy-in has first been achieved.
