Reference #377: Thinking in Systems
Success to the successful in known in the field of ecology as the "competitive exclusive principle". It states that two species cannot live in the same ecological niche competing for the same resources. Due to the species not being identical, one will be able to reproduce faster or use resources more efficiently. This allows that species to keep on "winning" and continue to multiple, which leads them to not only dominate their niche but also to drive the losing competitor to extinction through resource deprivation.
