Reference #50: An Elegant Puzzle
One approach to leading without authority is "Model, Document, Share". This can lead to more adoption than a top-down mandate.
Model: Measure some metric you're hoping to improve. Use this to establish a baseline. Then present your change and frame it as a short experiment. Iterate, and use metrics to ground your decision.
Document: Once you've found an effective solution, create the canonical document of the problem, the learning process, and the steps for others to implement it.
Share: Share your document and your experience. This shouldn't be an ask; instead just present your results. Often this nudge and the evidence are enough to get other teams adopting you improvements.
